The World Around Us! - A Place to Stand! - Week 1 - Day 3 - Activity 1 - SLJ - Awesome Animals!

Fantastic Beasts!
My Beast!

If I had a beast it would be like this! It would have the shape of a panda with a light pink colour where the black colour is on a normal panda! It would also have pretty patterns of strawberries on it and would smell like delicious strawberries and yummy ice - cream. It would feel like a soft teddy bear or the mane of a horse. The sound would be so soft, calm, and quite. It would sound so friendly! Everyone would want the little furry friend!

  1. Morena Cathy,

I love that your beast is a light pink colour, sounds like it could come from the film 'Monsters, Inc'! Have you seen this film before? They have so many colourful monsters, I think my favourite would probably be Sulley because he's huge, looks a little fearsome yet he's covered in soft fluffy purple and turquoise fur.

You have described your beast in different ways from what it looks like to what it smells like. I think a next step for you would be to elaborate on what you already have in your description with more detail. For example, you described your beast as sounding 'soft, calm, quiet and friendly', what does that mean? Does the beast have a high pitch or low but quiet growl/roar? Maybe it's quiet like a cat?

Well done on using lots of adjectives to paint a good picture of your beast, you have quite the imagination. Keep up the good work.

    Toe feiloa'i fo'i,

    Cia.

  2. Hi Cathy,

It's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team, writing to you from wintery Canada. It's very fun to look at the video of the Panda bears that you've incorporated in your blog posting for this activity. It definitely isn't winter in their world!

I like your idea of a 'monster' that isn't monstrous, as in, isn't scary! You're the first person to have imagined that kind of monster, so far. Well done!

And pink is also a unique choice of colour and very appealing to me! You've created a lovely animal, I would say.

I hope that you're enjoying a lovely summer day in Auckland, and I'll look forward to reading more of your postings.

    Cheers,

    Leslie
