  1. Hi Cathy.

Awesome to read your post here, I really enjoyed seeing your personal opinions on the comparison between the Wharepuni and houses.
They have some real similarities that make them special.
Which one do you prefer yourself?

Have you ever been to or seen any Wharepuni? There are some really great ones you can visit at the Museum. Have you ever been before?

Keep up the Summer Learning Journey Blogging.

  2. Hi Cathy,

Well done on identifying those similarities and differences, I like that you’ve used bullet points to list them, as a reader I appreciate those details. Had you thought about any other noticeable differences between a wharepuni and your home? Perhaps next time you could include a picture of your house or a house that looks similar, so readers can see the similarities and differences for themselves.

My house has a front and back deck which is fairly different from a traditional wharepuni and there are no traditional Māori carvings in the interior or on the exterior of my house. Similarities between the two include having a door and triangular roof. Has this given you any ideas?

    Toe feiloa’i fo’i,

    Cia.

  3. Kia Ora Cathy,

Cadence here from the Summer Learning Journey!
Great to see you have been busy with the SLJ programme. Those are some great comparisons, maybe you could have a go at comparing colour, size and other features of the house and Wharepuni too.

For example: My house has a big chimney up the side and is white and light green.

    Keep up the great work!

    Cadence :)

My name is Toeumu and i am a student in room 3 at Wesley primary School. Amazing similarities and differences. Do you know what kind of carvings they are or what they are called? This reminds me of when i did this activity and i said similar things to you Cathy. Good luck on your tasks over the summer/ school holidays.

Do you know what the carvings on the Wharepuni is called?

    Have a wonderful day,
