All Shops Should Be Closed On Anzac Day - By Cathy

This is my ANZAC Day writing on why all shops should be closed on ANZAC DAY:

Introduction
Every year on April 25th it’s ANZAC Day { Australia New Zealand Army Corps
Day}. On ANZAC Day we all remember those who have died in world wars.
Unfortunately people who work in shops have to go back to work at 1.00PM and
miss all the parades festivities, fun, and most of all they won’t get to be with their
families. So I vehemently believe that all shops should close on Anzac Day!

War Research
There are only three days in the year that all shops legally close. They are: Easter
Sunday, Good Friday, and Christmas. I think ANZAC Day should be one of those
days that all shops should be closed because in World War 1, 550 nurses served with
the New Zealand Expeditionary Force {NZEF}, 1 2779 New Zealanders were among
the dead and about 41,000 men were listed as wounded. This is a day where we should
make time for our family and think of those who fought, represented, and protected
our country and the people in it. I am very disappointed to see people rushing to make
money instead of thinking about those who are dead.

Family
On ANZAC Day families think of those in their family that fought in World War 1 and
have died. Even if you don’t have anyone in your family that was in World War 1 we
should still think about those who have died. Shops should be closed so retail workers
can spend time with their families. They should think of those who have died instead
of working and thinking about money on a day like this.

Parades
On ANZAC Day early in the morning at 6:30AM all the dawn parades start and
people come to see the parades with their families. There they celebrate ANZAC Day.
At the dawn service a commemoration begins with a march by returned service
personnel, before dawn to the local war memorial. Military personnel and returned
servicemen and women form up about the memorial, joined by other members of the
community. A short service follows with a prayer and hymns. Unfortunately people
who work at shops will have to go back to work and they won’t be able to see the
parades and be with their families. So all shops should be closed on ANZAC Day.

Different Countries
Some countries have different laws on ANZAC Day, like in Canada it requires most
retail businesses to remain closed until 12:30 p.m. on November 11th each year. In
Australia the vast majority of stores are unable to trade on Anzac Day until between
12:30pm - 1pm. In New Zealand most shops have to be closed up to 1:00pm, then
they can be open.

Conclusion
It makes me sad that ANZAC Day isn’t like Good Friday, Easter, and Christmas.
I think that on ANZAC Day most shops should be closed for the whole day. These are
all my reasons. We should all be going to mass and thanking all the soldiers and nurses
who represented our country. This is why I believe all shops should be closed on
ANZAC day. “We gather beneath an azure banner, bearing the stars of the night sky,
the flag is the symbol our freedom, and for which those few we toast did die”
